The selected power producers will be determined through the aforementioned auctions. The Ministry of Mining and Energy in Serbia is also considering the use of net metering for renewable energy.

The 2020 target for Serbia’s solar power market is to achieve 27% of its electricity demand from renewable sources. This was increased from the previous target of 21.2%. The growth of the rooftop solar projects comes as a result of the decreasing costs of solar PV and the abundance of renewable energy sources in Serbia.
