Solar plants are constantly growing electricity sources for most countries in Europe that mainly rely on sunlight as an energy source. A solar thermal plant is an electric that collects and converts sunlight to extreme heat, which is then used for electricity.

Yearly, the Montalto di Castro is estimated to generate about seven million kWh of energy, which is significant for a solar power plant. The energy converted from Montalto is enough to sufficiently power 2,700 households. Also, a power plant owned by Enel Green can be found in Serre Persano, making Enel one of the biggest solar plant runners in Italy. 

XXL (Weesow-Willmersdorf) Solar Park

In Brandenburg, Germany, the XXL (Weesow-Willmersdorf) Solar Park construction is in progress. The current rate at which the Solar Park is being developed is estimated to be the biggest photovoltaic plant in Germany. The owners, EnBW, obtained ownership of this solar plant through EnBW Solarpark Weesow-Willmersdorf after buying the project from Procon Solar in 2018.

 XXL solar park is estimated to produce 180 million kilowatt-hours every year. On the other hand, it is also calculated to remove 129000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year. XXL will be providing electricity for about 50,000 households yearly. 

Solar Park Meuro

Solar Park Meuro is another significant solar thermal plant in Germany. Meuro is a photovoltaic station with an impressive output of 166 megawatts located in Schipkau, Germany. A significant piece of information concerning the Solar Park Meuro is that its project construction was awarded POWER-GEN International solar project in 2012. The photovoltaic station is constructed on a lignite mine and is currently among the largest solar plants in Germany. It has above 630,000 solar panels, which is quite impressive for a power plant. 

Neuhardenberg Solar Power Plant

The Neuhardenberg Solar Power Plant is on a once operational airfield at Oderbruchstraße, Neuhardenberg. Conversely, it can generate approximately 19 million kW/h of clean, renewable electricity. The electricity generated can support about 48,000 households. Templin Solar Power Plant

Templin Solar Power Plant was launched in Brandenburg in April 2013. Commerz Real owns it, and Belectric did the construction. Templin is the second-largest solar power plant in Germany due to its immense output. It is regarded as the biggest thin-film power plant project in Germany. The plant has an output of 128.5 megawatts. Templin generates about 120 million kW/h yearly, and this energy is set to approximately power about 36,000 homes. Furthermore, the plant is calculated to remove about 90,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions. 

Elgin Energy Project

Recently, United Kingdom permission from Energy Consents Unit (ECU) under the Scottish project for a specific power plant project. An area spanning 115 hectares of land; RAF field, which is currently owned. The project’s aim is to develop a solar farm that will generate about 50 megawatts of clean and renewable electricity that the plants will supply to approximately 15,000 houses. At the same time, the energy should be able to power approximately 19,000 electric vehicles. This current project will be added to Elvin’s Energy Project portfolio. 

France’s Solar Tender Project

In the fourth round of France’s solar tender, certain solar-based projects were announced. These projects entailed a total of 850 megawatts capacity in terms of solar energy owned by the French government. This decision was reached in conjunction with the earlier commitment made by the French government at the One Place Summit for renewable energy.  

 Floating Solar Plant

The Floating Solar Plant was launched and commissioned by Akuo Energy, located in Vaucluse, Southern France. The Floating Solar Plant was also created to reduce land-use conflicts, among other things. The output of the solar plant is 17 megawatts—the solar panels of the Floating Solar Planet number to about 47,000, which occupies about 17 hectares. The Floating Solar Plant can power an estimate of 4,300 homes and eliminate 1093 tons of carbon dioxide emissions every year.  

UK’s First Unsubsidized Solar Farm

UK has gotten permission from the engineering department of British Solar Renewable (BSR) to commence the construction of their first unsubsidized photovoltaic farm. The project consists of a 15 megawatts solar farm that will be located in Westcott Venture Park, Oxfordshire. The designated area for this project is about 76 acres. In this plant, approximately 60,000 panels are to be installed to generate 14.5GW worth of energy on a yearly basis.

Toul-Rosieres Solar Park

The Toul-Rosieres Solar Park is one of the largest solar plants in France. The solar plant has a capacity of 115 megawatts. On another note, the solar plant has a yearly output of about approximately 60GWh. The electricity supply rate of this plant is enough to power 55,000 homes. Furthermore, the plant eliminates approximately 4,600 tons of carbon dioxide emissions on a yearly basis. 

Shell’s Solar Project 

One of the biggest oil companies, the Anglo-Dutch giant, Shell is planning on installing a solar photovoltaic power plant with a capacity of 48 megawatts. The location of this plant would be near Rijksweg 59, a highway spanning Zeeland, North Brabant, and South Holland. The project construction method is unclear, but the plant is estimated to provide electricity for about 20,000 households. 

Belgium deployment of 900MW of PV capacity in 2020

Belgian’s Grid operator reported an increase in renewable energy production such as solar by 31% to 15.1 TWh in 2020. This increase was a result of the many solar projects implemented by Belgium. These renewable energies now cover an estimated number of 18.6% in terms of electricity demand. Solar power specifically significantly increased from 3887 MV in the year 2019 to 4,670 in December. In 2020, more significant growth was recorded, making the solar plant one of the often-used energy options.

PS10 Solar Power Plant

Solar energy is becoming a viable energy source in recent years due to its clean and renewable nature. The PS10 succeeded in becoming the first global commercial concentrating plant. The solar power plant is located in Andalusia, Spain. PS10 has a capacity of 11 megawatts. As usual, this solar power plant, like others, generates electricity with specific mirrors known as heliostats. The time range for the construction of this plant was about four years. Currently, the plant, yearly, generates about 23,400 MWh. 

PS20 Solar Power Plant

The PS20 was designed by the creators of the PS10 Solar Power Plant, which is Tecnical-Tecnicas Reunidas. The PS20 power plant is a thermal plant that was launched in 2009. It is located in Sanlucar la Mayor in Andalusia, Spain. Formerly, it was the world’s most powerful solar tower until the construction of Ivnapah Solar Power Facility in California, 2014. The 20 megawatts solar power plant generates electricity by using huge mirrors called heliostats. On a general basis, the PS20 Solar Power Plant produces an estimated amount of 48,000 megawatt-hours on a yearly basis.  

Solnova Solar Power station

The Solnova Solar Power Station is a uniquely designed power plant. It is a large concentrated solar power station. The station comprises five different units of 50 megawatts each. The plant is in the same area as the PS20 and PS10, Saluncar La Mayor in Spain. After the commissioning of the third 50MW project in 2010, the Solnova Power Station skyrocketed to become the largest concentrated solar power station around the globe.  

ASE and Klimavest to develop large-scale projects in Germany

Ampyr Solar Europe has signed an important agreement with KlimaVest, a branch of Germanic firm Commerz Real. The deal includes developing large-scale photovoltaic projects in Germany, a leading solar power country in Europe. The three solar plants constructed will have an overall capacity of approximately 200MWp. The head of Commerz real commented: “We are really happy about this partnership [as] from the start, we had the feeling that there is a really good fit between ASE and Commerz Real.”

Statkraft Solar Agreement with Spain 

The Norwegian company Statkraft has agreed to a negotiation to sell several solar projects in Southern Spain for an amount that Statkraft didn’t reveal. These projects will be sold to the TRIG(The Renewables Infrastructure Group), run by RES. Statkraft will be responsible for the construction of about four solar parks. The combined power of these parks will be 234MWp, and the location of these projects will be around Cadiz. These projects will be one of the most significant Spanish Solar projects. 

Opdenergy Plans to Sell Spanish Solar Portfolio to Bruc Energy

Opdenergy is one of the leading sustainable energy producers in Spain. They recently agreed to sell their solar project portfolio in Spain to Bruc Energy. The total capacity of the is worth 1044 megawatts. The deal includes approximately 20 solar energy facilities based in Spain. However, the main reason behind this deal is for Opdenergy to use the sale proceeds to construct their backlog pipeline in Spain. Practically, by next year Opdenergy should have a capacity of approximately more than 1500MW in operation.
