Solar Market Outlook in Georgia

The traditional energy production in Georgia is based primarily on the importation of fossil fuels, along with hydropower and fuel. The country also serves as an important transit point for oil and gas. This is why the Georgian government has committed to improving the nation’s energy efficiency and maximizing its renewable energy potential.

How is a Power Transformer used with a Solar Plant?

In a Solar Plant, the transformers get used in two points in the whole circuit. At the transmission, level to step up or step down the power. And in the solar inverters to step down the voltage to change the DC to AC.

 

Types of Power Transformer for Solar Plant

There are two types of Solar Power transformers.

  • Step up Power Transformer: The DC from the solar panels gets a step up from the transformer to match the power rating for domestic use.
  • Solar Inverter Transformer: The second application is the solar inverter. When the current is generated in the solar panels, it is a direct current or DC. To make it usable for households, solar inverters convert this DC to AC.

 

How does a Power Transformer for a Solar Plant work?

A transformer has a metallic core with coils on two sides. In Solar Transformers, the number of primary windings is more than the secondary windings. 

Due to electromagnetic induction, the current from the primary coil gets transferred to the secondary coil. The current gets stepped up due to the secondary windings.
