The Giocosolutions s.r.l. was born from an idea of Ing. Gustavo Gioco in 2012 with the aim of developing products for the renewable energy and sustainable mobility sectors on an industrial level, in order to expand their applicability. The flexible panel as an idea was born between 2004 and 2005 for developing countries where it was necessary to create a product that was easy to transport. In 2005 the Mr. Gioco created Biomind, a consulting company for the alternative energy sector, becoming a consultant for the Turin Polytechnic University in the branch of Alessandria, where he supervised a research and development project for the realization and characterization of the new semi-flexible solar panel technology. Bayer Material Science was also involved in the project. In the same year, the first prototypes made in Levefkoosen are produced in the Bayer headquarters. The materials used at the time were PC combined with a specific experimental TPU. At the end of this research, Ing. Gioco joins the Tuscan company Energie Alternative whose goal should have been to design PV systems and tend to produce panels. After two years of research, seeing no prospects for the industrial aspect, Mr. Gioco with partecipation of Mr. Avesani – former CEO of Fiat Poland – creates Enecom with the objective of industrializing the patent of the semi-flexible solar panel of which it is the proprietor. In 2009, seeing no commercial industrial prospects in the Enercom company together with Giovanni Soldini, he pursued the idea of developing flexible panels in the nautical sector. From there – for the first time – the idea of using SunPower cells for a semi-flexible marine panel combined with an encapsulant based on olefin in place of the TPU that in marine environment saponified. From that point they discovered a new alchemy of the more stable system in the marine environment that is still the base of the GiocoSolutions panels. In 2012 after the contamination in Solbian of large industrial groups the engineer. Gioco decides to break away from this reality by creating the Giocosolutions (hence the name “Gioco’s Solutions – GiocoSolutions”). In 2018, the PV branch of GiocoSolutions Srl was taken over by the FLY group Solartech Solutions Srl, thus becoming one of the largest players in the sector.
