DualSun is a solar company that strives to reduce the energy consumption of buildings by generating solar heat and electricity. While photovoltaic (PV) energy is becoming increasingly popular for meeting electricity needs, it alone is insufficient to meet the energy needs of buildings. Buildings require heat for space heating and hot water needs, which is a major challenge for the 21st century. DualSun's mission is to provide innovative solutions that produce both electricity and hot water to make buildings energy-positive while recognizing that rooftop space is limited. The company was founded by Jérôme Mouterde and Laetitia Brottier, who first met in a scientific prep school and later attended Centrale Paris, a top engineering school in France. Centrale provided them with a platform to explore entrepreneurial projects and pursue professional paths with significant societal impact. In 2008, DualSun started in the offices of Centrale Paris and later moved to Marseille after partnering with a CNRS laboratory specialized in energy. The company was officially established in 2010, and the first DualSun panel was installed in August 2011.
