On the August 27th earnings call, ECD's CEO devoted a presentation slide to ECD's latest JV in China, explaining: "This
slide shows our facility in Tianjin, the third largest city in China.
As a reminder, our partner is the city's principal electrical utility
and the joint venture will be manufacturing our laminates for sale into
the Chinese domestic market. The manufacturing facility will begin
operations in October and we are encouraged by the demand
potential in the Chinese market. We expect our joint venture to share
in the growth of this market, beginning this fiscal year [i.e., starting in the September 2009 quarter]" [my bold].
But there was no update on the status of that venture on yesterday's
earnings call. So has the United Solar Jinneng (Tianjin) Energy Co.
Ltd. begun operations? Hard to say, but at least they have a web site (http://jn-unisolar.com/):

P.S. How many MWs worth of Unisolar laminates have been sold so far by Tianjin Jinneng Solar Cell Co.,Ltd. [cached] [not to be confused with United Solar Jinneng (Tianjin) Energy Co. Ltd.], who have been trying to sell them in China for years?
