Dr Farooq Abdullah, Honorable Minister for New and Renewable Energy,today launched SOLARCON India 2009 the global exhibition-cum-conferencewhich is to be held in Hyderabad from November 9-11 2009.
SOLARCONis aimed to be an annual event of international relevance and is toattract exhibitors and delegates to the three day event. This yearnearly 75 exhibitors and 500 delegates are expected to participate .Theevent is hosted by Fabcity with India Semiconductor Association (ISA)and Semiconductor Equipment & Materials International (SEMI).
Theevent aims to showcase the demand of the local market in renewableenergy and also bring together industry leaders in solar PVmanufacturing and applications on a common platform.
Speaking onthe occasion, Dr Abdullah reiterated the growing significance ofrenewable energy and the huge potential of applications in the IndianPV market place especially in rural households. Hyderabad has attractedthe bulk of investments in the sector and with the right support andexposure could create a cluster with representatives of the entireecosystem.
Also present on the occasion were, B.P. AcharyaIAS, Chairman and Managing Director of Andhra Pradesh IndustrialInfrastructure Corp. (APIIC), Ms Poornima Shenoy, President, IndiaSemiconductor Association (ISA) and Sathya Prasad, President, SEMIIndia.
