Solar for the Poor
Energy Refuge
Energy Bulletin has a thought-provoking article by Carl Pope in which the author suggests ways to increase electricity inclusion in poor countries and make it clean at the same time.
“The best way … is to launch a global initiative to provide solar panelsand other forms of distributed renewable power to poor villages and neighbourhoods”, said Pope.
He said there is an opportunity in the fact that more than 1.2 billion lack access to electricity and they could benefit from alternative energy sources such as off-grid solar power and LED lights.
